The Balvenie Scotch Whisky - Double Wood

Distilleria:
E’ situata nello Speyside nei pressi della cittadina di Dufftown. Nata con il nome di Glen Gordon la Balvenie fu la seconda distilleria costruita da William Grant dopo la Glenfiddich, nel 1887. Gli alambicchi erano ereditati dalla Lagavulin e dalla Glen Albyri. Nelle cantine della distilleria sono conservate alcune botti vecchissime, degli anni trenta.
Il DoubleWood è dapprima lasciato invecchiare in una botte tradizionale ex bourbon americano e poi rifinito in un fusto di rovere ex sherry.

Tasting notes by Jim Murray:
Nose: Sherry and orange skins.
Palate: Sweet and honeyed with intense malt meeting the soft peat and controlled sherry fruitiness.
Finish: Smoky and a little spicy with a bigger vanilla tang.
Comment: Yet richer, and fruitier. Still nothing short of glorious.

Odore: sherry e bucce d’arancia
Gusto al palato: Corpo pieno delicato al palato con un finale dolce ed intenso.
Aroma: Leggermente affumicato e di agrumi con accenni di miele e arancia.
Commento: Ben combinato, ricco ed intenso.
